Revision To The New Homepage Empty Revision To The New Homepage

    Post by Dubiously 2012-03-05, 21:49

I was reading through the new homepage (which is awesome by the way), and I noticed there were numerous errors in the "About Us" section that should be cleaned up. This way we can look more professional to newcomers.

Cora Dyce was founded by Andy in March of 2011. Previously, Cora Dyce was located at Romeo and Juliet's house in World 1. However, due to the amount of spam and lag, you can now find us at the Spirit Tree in the Northwest corner of the Grand Exchange. We have the largest and most active community in all of Rune Scape and are the #1 Dicing Clan in all Non-Member worlds. Unlike many other clans, Cora Dyce will never go to a Members world. We pride ourselves in extending the opportunity to dice to all members of the Rune Scape community. By staying in World 1, both Members and Non-Members may come and have a great time dicing! Thanks to our awesome community for helping us through this past year, through the good and more importantly the bad. Without you guys, this clan would not exist.

    Note:
Edit the Rune Scape to a single word, but a filter on forums would show the word as Rs.
Feel free to change Non-Member to F2P and Member to P2P, I just thought it would be more professional this way.
Consider changing Andy to Paradyce to keep the section less personal and more professional.

Once again, awesome job on the new homepage! Feel free to leave suggestions for further improvement below.

Also, you should lessen the fade effects, some of the words are hard to read.

agree to all except your last comment on Andy. cora dyce prides itself on being more of a community than a business, if andy comes on, 10% say 'hey cora' or 'hey para', and the rest say andy, we are a clan with the best dicing community imo, i think we kind of want to stay away from the business like clan dragon dyce is without acting immaturely.

on another note, i don't think we need to bit to the right which is out of the page, making it fit to the size of the browser will make it look better.

+ did pumpkind get ranked because he made this or something? i don't see an app

i don't really think this may improve the homepage, the introductory vid to the 3bil drop gives newcomers a sense of being modern.

Im running Safari on mac, and several things bug me: elements are off center, the "irc dicing" link is pretty much unclickable, and there is the horizontal scrolling issue. Personally I would fix these, then it would look and function, much more professionally.

Then there's the margin and padding issues, poor visual hierarchy, and bad typography. I apologize for being so straight forward and possibly rude (as this is my first post), but being a web designer/developer, I just can't not see these things.

Agreed on that, and idk why on my laptop I cannot see the "about us" part. I cannot scroll down to see that. I have to zoom out if I want to read it. Is that just me?
