Free initial 10k: Complete the first 3 floors stronghold of security upon account creation. You may want to bank your 5k between floors 2-3 and collect some food since at level 3 you will take a lot of damage and are likely to die.

It'll be pretty hard to make money right now as there is no economy (no-one can alch yet, lol), so, most people will barter (or sell things for EoC money, so, you're fine Award). I'd suggest collecting resources for the moment till later on when everyone else has been getting money.
Some good initial resources:
Pure/Rune ess (pure requires 30 mining). You may also get your RC level up and craft these into runes. Laws were quite expensive back then.
Feathers from chickens
Drops from lower-levelled monsters (such as big bones)

Scamming (lol, but red dhide chaps do look like dragon plate-legs)
Also, try doing some achievements. They existed back then but I'm not sure whether they also gave monetary rewards as they do now.

Another way u can do is to get 20 thieving and steal from silk stalls In Ardougne rather than buying but up to u
I have not tested how much it makes per hr but it is very quick money
