Can somebody explain to me why cheating is so socially unacceptable?

Considering that society is becoming more progressive in moving astray from monogamous relationships in American culture (ex: FWB, high divorce rates, TINDER), it doesn't make sense that people become that aggravated when a spouse deceives them. Sure, it's probably not morally in the right and has its religious underpinnings, but, at heart, quite literally, cheating is just a socially conditioned response to deception lol.

If your significant other was enjoying a piece of cake , you wouldn't get upset at them for enjoying the piece of cake because their enjoyment of that piece of cake has absolutely no effect on you. So, why can't you logically extend that concept to casual sex? I think it's just the evolutionary defense mechanism that comes with "Hey, you're sleeping with another woman. She might become pregnant, and that might become YOUR responsibility".

My feelings on this are that anyone can be in a sexual relationship with multiple people. It is not hard, but it usually requires lying to the other person. An important factor of being in a relationship/in love is the mutual exclusiveness, as well as honesty. How are you to feel special when you are one in many? Your feelings and needs are easily placed second to someone elses. You have no honest care. Then you move to person #2 who may not really feel anything for you because you are his person #2 or #3, and does not provide a foundation for growth
