    New Language Empty New Language

    Post by Co 2013-10-22, 00:47

I figured I should do a poll as I have learned. I am interested in becoming fluent in a new language. I am fluent in English and Latin and I wanna learn more. I am uncertain which I will learn, Chinese is so long and boring! I have done 3 years of Chinese and never learned crap. French and Spanish are so basic, so I am considering a more unique language.

My choices are below, and I will pick one! I don't even know if I will use advice on here, however, I am curious what people think is best!

    - Japanese
    - German
    - Russian
    - Romanian

German/Romanian are pretty basic given what you know and, though Russian has a different alphabet, once you get the hang of that, it's not hard at all. My friend is studying Japanese and he really enjoys it, but I'd go for a language not listed there:

Sanskrit, Ancient Greek or an Afroasiatic language?

Yeah and I adore German culture. I really like Japanese and am considering picking it because of Japan. I love the culture, unique food and anime! They so FIT my life, and I plan on living in Japan some day.

    New Language Screen13

Choose something on that list from the DLAB. Category I languages (romantic) are obviously the simplest for a native English-speaker. I'm shipping out as a CTI for the navy with a category IV language (still not sure what I'll be learning in Monterey, CA). If you have the mental capacity for it, try to pick up Chinese again or switch to any of the Arabic variations or Farsi (Persian).
