    Question 8 part 1

    If possible please include handwritten working (a picture)

    Not only the working, but also explaining what is a a convergent

    Thanks

    Edit: I don't understand google's explanation of convergence

    Edit : 2 I know convergence now, but still can't do the question Very Happy

    (x^2-1)^n is ur series in ez terms (note when n= 0 the numba will always be 1, dont gimme that 0^0 stuff its not relevant Very Happy)
    x= 1/2
    r = (.5^2-1)
    .25 - 1
    -.75
    converges if -1 < r < 1
    r = -.75
    first term /( 1 -r)
    (-.75^0)/(1--.75)

    1/1.75 is ur answer
    OT dont think im dum cuz i asked u what question u needed lol i didnt see it :3

    Why would I think you're dumb <3

    But they want us to find set values of x before substituting x equals 0.5 you did the second part before the first and used that answer. ..

    But

    1 - l (x^2 - 1) l< 0

    l (x^2 - 1) l < 1

    remove the modulus by squaring both sides,

    x^2 - 1 < 1
    x^2 < 2
    x < + -  root of 2

    - root 2 < x < root 2 ?

    r = (x^2-1)
    it converges if x if -1 < x < 1
    to find the point
    first term/(1-r)
    1/(1-(x^2-1))
    1/(1+ -(x^2) +1)
    so most simplified is
    1/(2+-(x^2))
    [remeber that when u do stuff like 1-(a+b) u open the paranthathes or however u spell (), im not a good speller, its 1+ -a -b
    so when u put in 1/2 for x its 0.5^2 = 0.25
    then u have to multiply by negative 1
    1+ -.25 + 1
    = 1/1.75
    = what i said
    PS
    dont know where ur going off of on the above post sorry >.<

    imagine that's not part of the question. question is only till the comma

    I thought it converges if |r|<1
    meaning -1<r<1,where r is what you multiply per term
    so -1<x^2-1<1
    meaning - i)sqrt of 2<x <sqrt of 2
    formula for value=a(first term)/1-r,and x=1/2
    so r=1/2^2-1=-3/4,and a=1
    so a/1-(-3/4)=1/7/4=ii)4/7

    I'm also stuck with math, can someone help me out. It's not that hard but i just don't see it:

    Given:
    y1(t) = 1-e^-0,35t
    y2(t) = e^-0,35t

    Solve: y1(t) = y2(t)

    nvm got it, had the - wrong:

    1 = 2e^-0,35t ( i had 1 = 0 )
    ,5 = e^-0,35t
    ln(.5) = -,35t
    t = ln(.5)/-.35 = 1,98

    derp.

    if u wanted to remove the square in x^2 u have to factor not just sq rt each term

    you know what, even though it was already solved, I truly appreciate that as you're the one who actually read what I said when I asked for handwritten working and you posted a picture for me <3

    Also yes, after checking with the answers the range of x required both + and - roots Smile
