Who thinks that luring is scamming, who thinks it isn't? State your reasons please. I made this topic since alot of people argue about luring if it's a scam or people who are idiot enough to lure you.

Re: Luring
Please don't take this the wrong way:
I do understand that luring is against the rules, the same that scamming is, but it is taking someones money off them through defeating them in the wilderness. The cunnings schemes and methods and the massive amount of time some people put, into trying to get people to come into the wilderness with a lot more gold then they should. I see it as something shady but not the exact same thing as scamming

Re: Luring
Nah luring is just as bad as scamming someone.
No difference imo.

It's the same thing whether the scam happens in the wilderness or not, you are still taking someones money by tricking them into it, whatever your intentions you are still scamming the person. You can hardly say it's not a scam just because someone puts more effort into it with a lure, which by the way is false. Scamming outside the wilderness isn't just yelling doubling money in ge with an autotalker or sitting under a host with an imposter account. Scams outside the wilderness can be much more "cunning" and can produce a much bigger income, the dicing market and IRC impostering make a good example.

Re: Luring
scam : A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.
Luring isn't really a business scheme.
But I still think luring is a horrible thing to do, like scamming.

Re: Luring
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that luring is the same concept as scamming.
They both deceive you into giving up your gold to the lurer/scammer.

Re: Luring
I remember when Toaster was still here he used to have a big luring group.
What's funny is even after deranked for luring I'd talk to him sometimes and he'd say "sorry can't talk atm, about to lure a red partyhat" or something like that. 5 minutes later he'd come trade me and show me it lol. He's made so much money.
In relation to the clan, luring is against the rules

Re: Luring
I understand that luring and scamming are somewhat the exact same thing and I'm not supporting either of it. I just seem to think they may be slightly different.

Re: Luring
Since 28 March 2007, it has been considered scamming.
"Luring someone into the wilderness under false pretences" a bannable offence.

Of course they're different.
Robbing a bank and hacking a credit card are different but the same concept.
