Requesting lock : How will a mod ever know that a person wants their OWN thread locked. For example a host application , someone is done trying to go for host, they change the title to Requesting Lock. Mod sees it and locks it , simple.
Requesting a move : Mods can miss out on a few threads and the members are just helping around and reminding the mod to move it. Don't see any harm in that.
Requesting a ban : Ok yeah, that's stupid. No member should need to request that.
Just because something is easier doesn't mean it's right.
For locking, I was referring to when people want other people's threads locked. If they want their own thread locked, why wouldn't you PM a mod so they actually see it?
For requesting a move, you proved my point in your own example. "Mods can miss out on a few threads". So then, how would posting random requests in a sea of comments help the situation? If a mod goes out for the night and comes back to 25 new topics, they're not expected to read through all of them looking for random orders, that's absurd. If they have a few private messages stating what people want done, the mods know exactly what needs to be done, and can decide from there whether or not to implement the action.
If you really want something done and not just post count, you'd directly contact a moderator so they see your request immediately. Just common sense.
