yeah so I'm English so naturally everyone I've talked to irl has been astonished about how great we've been at providing the games.

Was wondering how the rest of the world saw it cause as Brits we're gonna be bias.

    Lemme know whatya thought Razz

EDIT: Britain got most medals per capita by miles. smd America/China

I'm gonna compare 2012, to 2008. For opening ceremonies I couldn't decide, they were both amazing in my opinion. China's ability to present their culture and Britain's creativity (Especially during the industrial revolution, Mr. Bean, the Queen parachuting out of a helicopter which was hilarious).

For the closing ceremonies, I liked London's ceremony better. I kinda fell asleep in the 08 ceremony so I can't really judge it all that well. I felt the London's ceremony was a lot more festive.

I agree with james. It's all about per capita. That's like saying a guy who has 1,000 darts who fires all of them at a dart board and gets more triple 20's than a guy who only has 3 darts and gets all 3 triple 20's is the better guy at darts. Not at all cause he had 1,000 shots at it. The other guy had 3.
Same with medals at the olympics. Many countries have a lot less people to compete with than America and China yet America and Chine would claim they're the best in the world simply cause they have a ridiculous amount of people.

u guys had a chance to be in almost every event. Since you're the host country you are guaranteed a spot. L2calculate capita again with that into play.

every country has a chance to be in every event it's just they often choose to not enter every event because it's embarrasing to say that your countries best came last or wherever they end up finishing. You should only enter an athlete in an event with the intention of having at least a chance at being able to compete. What does being the host country have to do with it? And capita is based entirely on statistics so you can't take into account qualitative data when calculating capita. kthx ;P

because you are the host country you are allowed to have an athlete in every sport. You DO NOT NEED TO HAVE TO QUALIFY in any of the events, you are guaranteed a spot to participate in every one. That's what i'm saying, you can look it up

that wouldn't affect the outcome of total medals though. If they were good enough to win a medal then they would be able to qualify. Sure it means we are able to enter more people but that wouldn't effect how many medals wee'd be able to get

You do realize that if you consider population, England was in 10th place at the Olympics. They are still higher up than the US in this aspect, but you can't argue about the US having more medals.

Edit: for the US to have had the most medals per capita they would have needed roughly 2,852 medals, which is impossible since there aren't that many medals given out.
